No Jeans it must be FINALS

You never see any one walking around in Jeans during the week before finals. I love this time of the year at the wood. This is when you can see the true heart of Northwood come alive, it happens almost overnight to the entrained eye. As a student at Northwood, I know what goes on behind the scenes of the student that normally dress in his pajama pants and now is looking as a corporate executive. This transformation on the outside may of happen overnight but on the inside he is a whole new person.

He has been training for the past 10 weeks for this every moment, when the 30 page business plan comes off the paper and into the investors (Class Mates/professor) hands. As he walks to the front of the class his hands begin to sweat and he can feel the pressure of the world resting upon his shoulders as he looks toward the class. With a deep breath he releases the pressure of world and turns the butterflies in his stomach into a power weapon that cannot be stopped; every word that comes out of his mouth is smooth but forceful in winning the hearts of his peers and professor.

At the end of the day he walks taller than he has ever before in knowing that he succeeded his mission. Sure he will return back into the pajama pants for the next class, but on the inside he will never be the same always growing and learning how to become a better business professional.

This is why I love the week before finals because you really get to see the future of the person next to you, no matter what they may wear to class.

Blessings,

Mark

Busy Schedule

I was thinking today and I relized that I haven't left a blog in a long time. Thinking about this I relized that between work, classes, and homework my time is pretty much full. My mind lately have been on papers that are due and the finals next week. EEK finels NEXT WEEK! Currently I'm working on two papers and an outline while trying to remember to go to my math tutor and get help with logerithms which seem to be in a whole other universe from where I am. I've got more exams than I even care to think about and I know that I'll be doing the one thing I shouldn't be. Cramming right be for exams and worrying like crazy about how I'm doing.

Plans are being made on how to celebrate the end of the first term after they finish with thier exams, as well as what they are going to do over break before winter terms starts up and they have to do it all over again. To celebrate I'm either going bowling or to the movies. Personally I can't wait to be done with all of the exams and go home and RELAX. I can't wait to see my boyfriend who I never get to see because he lives so FAR away from here. :( After 9 or 10 weeks I'm starting get homesick having only been able to get home once for my birthday the entire time I've been here. (I don't have a car). I miss my Dad and my siblings... all 7 of them, and wish that I could be with them right now.

Home!

Hey Everyone!

So this weekend (since it is my first weekend off since the end of my soccer season) I decided to go home. The term is winding down and I just thought a little visit back home to hang out with my family would help me finish the term off strong! I am still trying to get used to this cold weather..burrr..but I am sure I will come around. I just may need to add a few more layers when i'm off to class! Hope you all have a good weekend and week!

Just a little Prayer:)

There are a lot of different flu’s and viruses being passed around that are making people very ill. I am praying for everyone to remain healthy and strong to fight off these infections. The other day I received some news from my mother back in Cleveland, OH that my grandma was in the hospital because she has pneumonia and she is very ill. A few months back the family found out that she had cancer and she’s been receiving chemo-therapy ever since. She was getting a lot of her strength back and doing very well in spite of her condition. She was alert, smiling, talking to her daughters, son, grand children and great grand children. Everything was working in our favor. Even though she is sick once again, I know that she will pull through. My grandmother is a very strong woman and I know that she will fight off this illness just as she fought off the other. I am just asking all of you guys to pray, not only for my grandma but for those who are fighting their own battles and struggling with diseases, viruses, and other illness. I really do believe the power of prayer works because I have seen it in people of many different ages.

With that being said I would like to share a few words with all of you that a good friend shared with me. “I want to share my lunch with you. A plate of love, a bowl of peace, a spoon of hope, a fork of care and a glass of prayer”.

Love you sooo much Ms. (Grandma) Mary Alice Benton. Get well soon.

Carrer Fair and Halloween at Northwood

Hi Dumi here,

So we just had the carrer at Northwood and it was a great time. I got to learn about the various companies that were there like Frito Lay and Enterprise Rent A Car. The Career Assitance Center was very helpful in editing and tailoring my resume to look professional for recruiters. I thank Northwood for provining this great opportunity.

Oh Halloween was real fun. The INTERCULTURAL CLUB OF NORTHWOOD had a Halloween party in the student union. There was great music, food, and costumes. There were prizes given out for best and craziest dressed. It was blast!

GLIAC Tournament

This season the Women's Soccer team made it to the GLIAC Tournament for the first time in many, many years! This was a very exciting experience for me as well as the rest of my teammates. Unfortunately, we lost first round to Tiffin University but overall our team has exceeded our expectations pointed out in the beginning of the season. Now that season is over with I can concentrate on the upcoming finals and going home for Thanksgiving break!

Have a good week!

Bad Hair Days

I had a good friend of mine do my hair a couple of days ago. To tell you guys the truth, I am truly thankful for her. Being a college student is kind of tough. My finances sometimes are depleted and it’s hard for me to buy things or give people a little extra for helping me out. I am used to getting my hair done at least every other week but my funds have been really tight for a while, so I had to settle for doing it myself. (Which I would rather not do). So I found a friend who knows how to do hair and she’s a very reasonable person that I could work with. I felt like a new women when I got my hair done. I thought I was the stuff. (LOL). A lot of females do have a boost of confidence once they go see their hair stylist and they do a good job on our hair. I love to go to the salon. I would rate it the 4th best place on earth to be. That is if you’re a female (lol). So to all my lovely ladies, love the friends you got who can help you out a lot when you have one of them bad hair days.

Halloween Weekend

What does the average person do on a Halloween Weekend? Go trick or treating, party, movies, taking a road trip to haunted houses seems like the right answers. That all sounds fun when you get to hang out with friends and family, laugh and have a good time with one another.
My weekend went kind of different. I did go out with my roommates, and we did enjoy ourselves. There’s always some drama where ever I go, though. Most of the time I’m not involved, but my friends are. But at the end of the night we all, well at least I slept peacefully. Sometimes it’s worth it to stay home and watch television and talk instead of going out to clubs or house parties because you never know who you’ll run into or who you want to see there. Sometimes people can give you dirty looks, and you may not even know why. I would have thought that I did something to offend that person. Those looks didn’t keep me from having a good time with my girls. We party the night away having some good old fashion girl talk and going down memory lane and sharing some juicy details with one another. I’m glad that all of my roommates and I all get along and that we can discuss things that hurt us, things that we got over, and things that will make us better women. We all enjoyed our Halloween weekend by talking, eating good, and laughing at some good times.

Halloween Party

Hello All,

What does a college student do for Halloween? Well I don’t know what most kids do but I went to the annual Halloween Party hosted by the church Reloaded. What do we do there? Dodge ball, ¼ mile run in full costume, and bob for apples. I know it sounds old school, but when you see a 6 feet Easter Bunny run a ¼ mile you can’t help to smile. With only one more year to go, I am really going to miss simple hang out days like this. I can only hope that the working world will be just as fun. To see pictures check out the http://thechurchreloaded.com they should be up soon!

Blessings,

Mark
