My personal experience with facebook is addicting. When I first set up an account with facebook, I was checking my page at least 12 times a day. It wasn’t that I had a lot of messages from friends, which I did have a few here and there, but I just wanted to be nosey and in other people’s business. Facebook is a great networking tool. I can keep in touch with all my high school friends as well as my college friends. I find a lot of my friends enjoying life and spending time with those they really care about. One of my personal favorites is the relationship status. Usually I like to hear about other people’s love stories because I believe that there is someone out there for everybody. People even come up with interesting quotes which sometimes lifts me up when I know that someone else is going through the same thing as me. I also like receiving the events notice. It’s good to know that when you don’t have anything planned on the weekend there are a few of your buddies throwing a get together or want you to come support an organization that their involved in.
It’s entertaining to see the pictures that your friends post on line. But it can be costly because pictures can speak a thousand words. A lot of employers go online and look into these types of search engines. Some of the photos and language posted on facebook is not worth risking a career over. There are also crazy people on line, such as stalkers and hackers waiting to make your life miserable. But I guess that’s why there is a blocker where you can block certain people and also make your page private.
Although, when you find good friends that care about you, you should hold on to them. Situations happen in life where you can loose contact with people. So the other best way to keep in touch with old flings, friends, co-workers, and family, besides cell phones, is through myspace or facebook or any other means of cyber communication. But be cautious and aware of what you say and post on line.
