It was so beautiful out the last few days! I actually did my homework outside on Sunday. And of course it’s getting cold again. Don’t you love Michigan weather? Well, tonight is the second Stafford Dinner meeting. I got selected as the co-chair of service. I feel so important, haha. Right now we’re trying to pick the theme for next year’s dinner. It’s a toss up between a few different ones. I’m pushing for an old time Broadway/New York theme.
There is a luncheon in the Hach Center on Monday and being an HRM student, I am excused from all my classes that day to work it. I am on the valet staff again. I like the interaction I get with the guests while they wait for their car to be brought to them and when they drop their car off. I’ve had many interesting conversations in that parking lot!
I’m taking a food lab this term which is a basic cooking class. This week I learned how to Julianne and dice vegetables and potatoes. I have never worked in a kitchen and I am not a very good cook so I can’t wait to start learning how to really cook a nice meal so I can show off my skills when I go back home.
At the end of April I get to stay at Shanty Creek Resort for free because I’m working an event there. We get to use their whole facility for free. I will be working with an amazing chef in the kitchen and I can’t wait! I love how Northwood has so many connections and that they get you out there in the field you are studying right away so you gain experience. I’m so glad I made the choice of coming here.
