Statford Dinner

This year is the 35th annual Stafford memorial dinner put on by the HRM (Hotel Restaurant Resort Management) students. The dinner is put on by the students and all of the money from this fundraiser go back to the students in the form of scholarships. Every HRM student has to take part in the dinner. From cooking, serving, to coat check and valet each student has their own part in the night.
This year the event was in the banquet hall of Zehnders in Frankenmuth. So all of the snow sculptures that were still up. OMW If I had brought my camera I would have taken picture everything was so amazing. There were whales and octopuses and everything looked so real (well as real as white sculptures can be of nature). But as I was going to be working I didn't want anything to happen to it.
So, anyway, I get there and they had food for everyone who was working before we started at 3:30ish. We than got our "on the job training" and learned a few of the ropes and everything was going well. There was really only one fire to put out and that happened at the beginning. Yeah it was an actual fire to, one of the menus on the table caught on fire, and I was really impressed they had the fire out and the table cloth replaced and reset in under 15 minutes. Whats a small table fire anyway huh.
Some guys from the school were playing music and singing during the meal to entertain everyone and than the real entertainment came. The comic magician. He was really good minutes the bit of choking he did at the beginning of the act. After the magician there was a little more eating than the scholarships were announced and than clean up started. Wow talk about unorganized. But apparently they've been like that for the past 35 years so why break tradition right? It was a fun but exhausting night!
